Following my previous post on Columbus, I have found a wonderful site from which to view (and even download, if you have the right software) all kinds of old maps. It opens onto a representation of the globe, you can zoom in on any area, and small maps appear on the right. If you want to see them, you just click on them. All the references are given, a precious tool indeed for geographers and historians. The link is below. I have also added it to the left side, so it can be used at any time. It is a site which brings together high-resolution digital maps, from libraries mostly, so that you can gain access to them. Instead of going to the several host sites, you just go to the site and find a wealth of materials. Apparently, the site has been named as one of the 100 most useful sites, to be preserved for the future. You'll understand why when you go to it...

Après mon précédent message sur Colomb, j'ai trouvé un très beau site à partir duquel voir (et même télécharger si on a le bon logiciel) toutes sortes de cartes anciennes. Il s'ouvre sur une représentation du globe, on peut zoomer sur n'importe quelle zone, et de petites cartes apparaissent à droite, sur lesquelles il suffit de cliquer. Toutes les références des cartes sont données, un outil précieux pour géographes et historiens. Voici le lien ci-dessous, je l'ai aussi ajouté à droite pour qu'il soit toujours disponible. C'est un site qui regroupe des cartes numérisées à haute résolution, se trouvant dans des bibliothèques pour la plupart, de façon à y avoir un accès simple. Au lieu de visiter tous les sites où pourraient se trouver ces cartes, il suffit d'aller sur celui-là pour y trouver des millions de données. Apparemment le site a été classé parmi les 100 sites les plus utiles à conserver pour l'avenir. On comprend pourquoi en y allant...
