They constitute the seventh issue of Textimage, a very ambitious journal, specialising in text/image relations. Some are in English, others in French, as the list of titles below indicates:

I have added, along with Mark Niemeyer, an introductory essay to the volume about the scientific way of using images, and a bibliographical essay, both in French, listing the main areas of research in scientific illustration. The volume also comes with an artist's sketchbook, provided by Michel Salaün, an illustrator specialising in marine wildlife. Don't hesitate to browse, read and look at the wonderful images accompanying each article.

J'ai ajouté, avec Mark Niemeyer, un avant-propos au volume sur le regard scientifique sur les illustrations, et un essai bibliographique, tous deux en français, qui répertorie les grands thèmes de la recherche sur l'illustration scientifique. Le volume comprend aussi un Cahier d'artiste, fourni par Michel Salaün, illustrateur spécialisé dans la vie marine. N'hésitez pas à feuilleter, lire et regarder les merveilleuses images qui accompagnent chacun des articles.
